Breaking News: Congress is Broken

Why don't they all just go home?

Watch CNN's Candy Crowley interviewing Sen. John Cornyn (R) & Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D) asking them: you're not doing anything, why don't you all just go home? (Durbin was on a live-link from his home state Illinois)

While Cornyn gives the usual party line about settling down to negotiate, Durbin practically starts crying over the lack of any work to do.

If America were a movie character it would be Bull Murray's in the movie Groundhog's Day. Every day, seemingly forever now (more like 3 years) Congress has failed to get anything meaningful done.

Politicians and reporters alike are growing sick of the Never-Ending Story (day 1,554) where Senate filibusters and political hackery reign supreme.

Speaker of the House and crybaby extraordinaire John Boehner is an incapable buffoon. Nice guy, I'm sure - but he's inept. He cannot control his own party.

Watch Boehner "reject the word" compromise here. Below, watch CNN's Erin Burnett push Boehner into actually saying out loud that after a deal between Republicans and Democrats is reached & passed, some Americans might pay more taxes (what a commie!).

The government is in the pockets of big corporations. Our system has shifted on the capitalistic scale away from socialism (sorry Tea Partiers) and to the side in favor of fascism.

BUT - something is happening in the halls of Congress. Over the last 15 years, lawmakers have spoken together less and less. But now, with political progress at a near-complete stand still, some (like Durbin) are beyond restless and are becoming desperate (much like the American people) for some work to do.
