One State, Two State

The Gupta Plan: A Lasting Peace in Israel-Palestine

Israel's continued commitment to build settlements on internationally recognized Palestinian land stands at the forefront of todays conflict.

Watch this 60 Minutes video The Story of David: on the disputed building of settlements in East Jerusalem as seen by Arabs & Israelis.

The settlement building slaps all those in the face who are interested in a lasting peace. It serves no purpose other than Israeli expansion at the expense of all else. Netanyahu, and the right wing Likud, are currently responsible for this failed strategy.

Building illegal settlements does not secure Israel. It does the opposite. Is it so hard to understand that people don't want to be undermined and feel disrespected?

Israel has the right to exist and the right to prosper, but it does not have the right to steal land. Both groups see an intrinsic right to the land, but how can they not see the obvious answer lies in sharing the land? Sharing is the first thing we learn in school.

A Super Duper Brief Look at the History

Israel was created in 1948 after a 1947 United Nations partition plan was enacted to give a home to the Jews in the aftermath of the Nazi Holocaust. Israel claims ownership dating back thousands of years to the Kingdom of Israel. Palestinians claimed to have lived there for hundreds - if not thousands of years - and were effectively displaced after WW2.

Many borders creating the Middle East were carved out in the first half of the 20th century by Britain imperialists after WW1. Prime Minister Winston Churchill famously bragged about drunkenly drawing the lines which created an oddly shaped border for Jordan.

A War on Truth

Let's take a look at the conflict from perspectives of Arabs & Israelis. It's difficult to find the truth in the Israeli-Palestinian debate let alone a source that's objective. We must turn to people we trust to find out the truth.

This is a slick piece of Israel propaganda that I can verify as such due to it's nature: totally one-sided taking no blame for any part of the conflict.

What would a real Israel-Palestine peace plan look like?

In the 70's Noam Chomsky supported a one state solution to the crisis. In this debate in 2005 with Alan Dershowitz, Chomsky says his favoring the idea of a one-state solution was naive. Naive? It's only naive because hardliners like Dershowitz refuse to give meaningful concessions to Arabs in negotiations.

Inevitably, negotiations will begin again between Arabs and Israelis - the problem is that no one has a final plan that people can take to the bank.

Ultimately the result will have to look pretty to both sides.

Problems:
1. Name Change. Israel-Palestine is unbalanced in nature pitting one in front of the other.
2. Jerusalem. The borders of the city must be shared or divided
3. Borders
4. Palestinian Right of Return

Solutions:
1. Upon researching potential names, I remembered a college ethics course which touched on Plato's theory of forms (where true ideas are transformed in abstract representations in our minds) and in particular the Elysian Fields (or heaven). Elysia literally means the oath of God. This would be a perfect name for a state, birthed in religion and shared by two groups rialed up in war. It's also great because people have a simple one word answer to a positive step towards peace in the region.
2. One thing is clear. The road to peace lies in dividing or sharing Jerusalem. The city that holds so much importance to two religions must be shared by the two parties.
3. Return to the 1967 borders with mutually respected land swaps.
4. The right of return problem will be easily enacted when parts 1-3 of the Gupta plan are successfully implemented.

The main idea behind the plan is to create a mutual respect and a sense of shared responsibility among neighbors & country.

Jews Rule the World & All Muslims are Terrorists

Stereotypes are meaningless in the modern era. The Jewish bankers who run the world via Hollywood and their counterpart fatwa loving terrorists who hate their women (THIS IS SARCASM JUST TO BE CLEAR) must get over themselves and get to work.

Peace would be achievable if people weren't so apathetic and pessimistic. A solution lives in the idea of a positive can-do attitude.

Want a Little Cheese with that Whine?

The X generation is less concerned with religious tradition than we are with building towards a something meaningful & worthwhile. Israel stands at the center of what could be the beginning of the grand era: where humans stop fighting wars & focus our collective energy in the sciences and the arts. There is no need for an nationally recognized enemy.

Religulous: My God is an Optimistic God

If you pray to a different God than me, it doesn't give me the right to judge you. This is what religion ought to be teaching - at a minimum.

The Christian 1st commandment says "You shall have no other Gods before me." That's so jealous and anti (it's like - I think I went to high school with that God).

I'd rather believe in Bob Marley so I "don't worry" & "be happy." It's so much sweeter.
